On February 21st, the U District rezone was unanimously passed by the Seattle City Council. The next rezone up for consideration is Downtown/South Lake Union.
MHA will require developers to contribute to the city’s stock of affordable housing by either including rent-restricted homes in their projects or paying into a fund the City's Office of Housing will use to build them across the city. Combined with rezones in all of Seattle's urban centers and villages, MHA will harness Seattle's rapid growth to create over 6,300 new affordable homes over the next ten years.
The Downtown and South Lake Union neighborhoods are expected to produce over 1/3 of the overall goal of 6,300 homes created through the MHA program.
Show your support for a more affordable Seattle by attending and speaking at the public hearing on the Downtown/South Lake Union rezone!
