Donate to Tech 4 Housing

Tech 4 Housing organizes the tech community to advocate for affordable, sustainable and equitable cities. We support legalizing a wider range of housing across neighborhoods, increasing investments in affordable housing, and strengthening protections for vulnerable communities.

Your donation ensures that elected officials, industry leaders and the public continue to hear a pro-housing message from the tech community.

Donations made through this form go to Tech 4 Housing's fiscal sponsor, the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle-King County, for the purpose of organizing the tech community to advocate for affordable, sustainable and equitable cities. The Housing Consortium is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with Federal Tax ID Number 94-3073588. No goods or services are provided to you for this gift. Your gift is tax deductible.

Your advocacy is already making a difference. In 2019, Tech 4 Housing joined with a broad coalition of housing advocates from across Washington State to help pass meaningful reform on a range of issues. Among our victories in Olympia this year were:

  • passing HB 1923, which provides funding, incentives and legal protection for localities to allow more housing, especially transit-oriented development, missing-middle housing and affordable housing.

  • a 75% increase in funding for affordable housing from the State's Housing Trust Fund.

  • increasing the eviction notice time to 14 days, from the mere 3 days previously required.

At the City of Seattle, we saw the successful completion of nearly four years of advocacy with the passage of Mandatory Housing Affordability, which will bring increased housing options across multifamily neighborhoods and increased funding for affordable housing. That's complemented with the upcoming likely passage of backyard cottage and basement apartment reform, which will significantly expand housing options in exclusive single-family neighborhoods.

In many ways the most important work is still to come this summer and fall, when Seattle will hold elections for seven City Council seats. Tech 4 Housing has already helped organize five candidate forums in collaboration with a broad coalition of civic groups. In the coming months we'll continue to educate, inform and engage the tech community on the issues and candidates that will shape our City for the next four years and beyond.
